Robert Hamilton

       Robert Hamilton is that down to earth lawyer who can do anything
well. He’s a concise, efficient writer who doesn’t miss an issue. One of
his greatest strengths is challenging government searches and seizures
in federal and state court. He is recognized for his assertive motion
practice and solid grasp of the law.

       Robert earned his J.D. with an emphasis in Criminal Law from
Lewis & Clark School of Law in 2001. During law school, he clerked for
the Federal Public Defender and the Portland office of the Metropolitan
Public Defender.

       After law school, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable
Robert Wollheim at the Oregon Court of Appeals. He gained experience
in civil litigation as an associate at labor and civil rights firm Goldberg,
Mechanic, Stuart & Gibson before returning to criminal litigation.

       As a trial attorney at the Metropolitan Public Defender, Robert
took dozens of felonies and misdemeanors, large and small, before juries
in Multnomah and Washington Counties.

       He entered private practice in 2008 and continues to focus on
criminal defense for both federal and state cases at the trial level and
on appeal. He is a member of the federal Criminal Justice Act Panel,
taking appointments in federal criminal cases from the United States
District Court of Oregon and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

       Robert also represents clients pursuing state post-conviction and
federal habeas corpus. With stakes as high as the death penalty, he works
to challenge and undo convictions by finding constitutional flaws in the
underlying trial process. Robert's appellate and post-trial experience add
an invaluable dimension to our practice.
